Testing whether you can dial in

If you want to allow dial-in connections, follow these steps to test your system:

  1. Check that the modem is set to auto-answer. There may be an ``Auto Answer'' light on the modem's front panel to show this.

  2. Enable the modem control port, for example:

    enable /dev/tty1A

  3. Dial this modem from another modem.
If you have any problems, see ``Problems dialing in''.

See ``Configuring your system for high-speed modems'' if you find that you are losing incoming data on a high-speed modem.
